Happy Thanksgiving

I love this print and think it's especially suitable for the holidays. This Thanksgiving I am thankful for the opportunity to study what I love, in a city I love, with the man I love.

Michelle Obama is Ridiculously Beautiful

Look at our First Lady! She was divine at the State Dinner. No wonder the President always looks so smitten by her. For more photos, visit Mrs. O.

Gnome Children

I am very serious when I say I'm rather disappointed at the supreme lack of gnome dress up that occured during my childhood.

Also, I can't believe that I haven't posted anything child-related yet. How un-me-like.

Gordon Willis

I had the unbelievable opportunity to attend a Q&A with legendary cinematographer Gordon Willis. This is a man who completely revolutionized how we look at movies and he was one of the most humble, clever, and fascinating people I have ever seen talk about their work. He's almost 80 years old and doesn't look a second over 60, and is so unpretentious you can really tell how much he really just loves movies. What an incredible experience.

PS: I sat about three feet in front of him :D

The Weekend

This weekend was one of those weekends that makes you feel like anything is possible and like you never want to be anywhere else but right where you are.

Discovering new things in your new city, Day-long walks, Seeing and listening to one of your heroes and living geniuses speak three feet in front of you, Sunday morning runs to Whole Foods for eggs and bread, Running into friends while picking up eggs and bread at Whole Foods, Feeling the fall in the air, Collective cooking with perfect boyfriend, Laughing, Laughing, Laughing, Watching good movies...

...these are the things I loved about this weekend and it makes me excited for the many more good weekends to come.

Thank you, Oprah.

Delightful Dog

I'm aching for a dog, especially one as simultaneously floppy and dignified as Bo Obama.

Holiday Food

My two favorite food groups are:
1. Breakfast food
2. Holiday food

The latter mainly includes little snacks and cookies and the like since I am a vegetarian. Some people are shocked when they realize I can't eat Thanksgiving turkey or Christmas ham, but I'd take gingerbread cookies and spiced cider things of that nature any day of the year. Holiday treats also make fantastic gifts, no?

...an inspiration.

Most Beautiful Book

This is one of the greatest, most beautiful books I have ever read. It is hopeful, inspiring, achingly elegant and a delight to read. Don't just take my word for it- Oprah loves it too, as does Diane Rehm, AND it just won the National Book Award. I think it makes for a lovely gift, too!

Congratulations Mr. McCann, for a beautiful book and for the much-deserved recognition.

PS: Listen to the Diane Rehm interview- it is thought-provoking, wise, and uplifting.

The Time for Gift Hunting Has Arrived

I am always on the lookout for the perfect gift for the perfect someone, and if I had a million and one dollars I would buy all kinds of gifts for everyone I could think of! It's especially nice to look for gifts around the holidays and imagining what I'll give to people "someday when I'm rich and famous." I'll share the loveliest finds with you. Etsy has the gift guides to end all gift guides, and they are updated frequently.

My idol.

She defines lovely, don't you agree?

Autumn in Boston

I love taking walks in the Boston Public Garden now that it's fall. It feels like fall is supposed to feel- crisp, chilly, and lovely. It makes me dream about the holidays!
